1.      Matt. 11:28-30 – Jesus wants us to experience true recreation.

A.     Gen. 1:26, 31 – Mankind was created in God’s image.

·        Luke 19:10 – Jesus came to restore God’s image.

·        Luke 4:18-19 – To set the captives free.

·        Rev. 21:1 – The earth will be completely restored.

·        My grandpa’s old toolbox.

B.     Mark 6:31 – Jesus took time to recreate.

·        John 2:1 – He attended important social occasions.

·        Luke 7:36 – He accepted dinner invitations.

·        John 6:1-3 – He provided a picnic in the country.

·        Lev. 23 – Six times each year Israel was to celebrate.

·        Ecc. 5:18-19 – To be able to have fun is a gift of God.

C.     Pil. 4:8 – Seek recreation instead of amusement.

·        Recreation promotes spiritual growth while amusements inhibit spiritual growth.

·        Recreation prepares the mind to enjoy the Bible but, amusements make the Bible dull and boring.

·        Recreation feeds the higher nature, but amusement stimulates the lower nature.

·        Recreation fulfills the need for diversion and invigorates mind and body.

·        Amusement gives the illusion of fulfilling the need for diversion, but actually creates an insatiable appetite for more amusement leading to addiction.

·        Two young men who made the wrong choices.
